Football in Shanghai in 1930s – post 1

We will publish small excerpts from the 1930s historical Shanghai book about the football. 

The most interesting sport in Shanghai, which always attracts hundreds and thousands of spectators, is certainly football, to which addicted are representatives of all nationalities living in Shanghai.

Currently in Shanghai, in the Football League alone, there are over 50 teams divided into five categories, while in addition to the league teams there is still as many, not recorded in the League, and thus, the number of football teams in the city can be freely marked in 100 football commands.

Russian footballers have not easily won their popularity, and only after a number of difficult years Russian players have moved to one of the first places in the city and now every match of Russian football teams is attended by hundreds of spectators.

The first team of the “Sokol” society currently plays among the teams of the first category, which consists of only ten best teams in the city.

It is worth mentioning the history of the emergence of Russian football teams, beginning with the appearance here of the first Cadet football teams, after the arrival of cadet corps there.

Самым интересным видом спорта в Шанхае, всегда привлекающим сотни и тысячи зрителей, безусловно является футбол, которым увлекаются представители всех национальностей, проживающих в Шанхае.

В настоящее время в Шанхае в одной только Футбольной Лиге имеется свыше 50 команд, распределенных на пять категорий, тогда как кроме лиговых команд имеется еще столько же, не записанных в Лигу, и таким образом, количество футбольных команд города может быть свободно отмечено в 100 футбольных команд.

Русским футболистам не легко удалось завоевать себе популярность, и только после ряда тяжелых лет, русские футболисты выдвинулись на одно из первых мест в городе и теперь на каждое состязание русских футбольных команд являются сотни зрителей.

Первая команда общества “Сокол” в настоящее время играет среди команд первой категории, в которой состоит всего только лишь десять лучших команд в городе.

Не лишне отметить историю возникновения русских футбольных команд, начиная с появления здесь первых кадетских футбольных команд, после прибытия сюда кадетских корпусов.
